closed to make way for a new Cunningham Pier!

Management and staff wish to thank all Smorgy’s Geelong patrons for their support over the past 16 years. Cunningham Pier is currently undergoing a major redevelopment.

In September, the doors will re-open and present a world class event space, restaurant, boutique bar, private meeting room and a cafe.

The event space, to be known as The Pier Geelong, comes complete with a stunning entrance, pre function area and the ability to accommodate 700 people in a sit-down capacity or 1100 in a cocktail style capacity. The Pier Geelong will cater for weddings, corporate events and special occasions. The facility will have a state of the art audio visual system as well as the ability to reconfigure the room with bi-fold doors for more intimate events.

Renowned chef Matt Dempsey will take on the role of executive chef. Matt won the 2009 Electrolux Appetite for Excellence ‘Young Chef of the Year’ Award and will represent Australia in the San Pellegrino Cooking Cup in Venice in June 2010. He will also undertake work experience in the UK at The Fat Duck and Ledbury.
