It’s been a jam-packed year of events at The Pier Geelong in 2019! With so many fantastic functions and stunning weddings, we look back and reflect on a few of the highlights of the past 11 months!
Give Where You Live – Administrative Professionals Breakfast
The Give Where You Live Foundation and BTS – Business Technology Specialists were thrilled to host the BTS Administrative Professionals Breakfast with special guest speaker Kirstie Clements.
Held at The Pier on the gorgeous Geelong Waterfront, this breakfast was the perfect opportunity to get together for a morning of fun with 400 of your closest friends! Did you attend this inspiring breakfast?
Mother’s Day at The Pier
Our annual Mother’s Day at The Pier returned in 2019 and to great success! It was the perfect way to spoil the Mother figure in your life with a beautiful lunch out over Geelong’s bay.
With a buffet style carvery and live acoustic music paired with a kids corner (including a face painter and balloon twister!) it was a fantastic afternoon for all!
To top it off, $5 from every ticket sold was donated to Geelong Mums, a local organisation assisting people who are facing a variety of challenges whilst raising our future generation. Stay tuned for Mother’s Day Lunch at The Pier in 2020!
Cure 4CF Foundation Gala Dinner 2019
We were delighted to host yet again the Cystic Fibrosis Gala Dinner. Every year, this event proves to be a memorable night with fine dining provided by The Pier Geelong and Cure 4CF Foundation putting together a perfect evening of fun, entertainment, live and silent auctions, VIP guests and a program full of very passionate speakers.
Dressed to the nines, guests received a delicious 2 course meal and indulged in our extensive local and national beverage list. To see just how incredible this event was, check out our video here.
Every cent raised on the night went directly to the Cure4CF Foundation to support research for a cure.
Victorian Tourism Conference Dinner
The Victorian Tourism Conference was not to be missed in 2019! Held between Higher Mark and our very own The Pier Geelong, the event provided opportunities for tourism and events professionals to learn, connect and grow their business or organisation.
After the conference attendees soaked up all the knowledge from the speakers, the Victorian Tourism Conference Dinner Celebration kicked off at The Pier. With live music, fantastic food and local wine, the sunset over the bay and twinkling lights of the stunning Geelong skyline created the perfect relaxed atmosphere to network and get excited about what’s to come for tourism and events in Victoria!
Victoria Teachers Games 2019
The Victoria Teachers Games 2019 can safely say their 24th year was an absolute success!
Hosting sports and activities across the Greater Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula, there was never a dull moment. At The Pier Geelong we were proud to host a few of the events including the all-time favourite Trivia Nights as well as the ultra fun Beach Party.
We were proud to partner with such an impressive organisation and thank everyone for making the 4 day event what it was. Bring on the 25th Annual Victoria Teachers Games in 2020!
Geelong Business Excellence Awards
The 2019 Deakin University Geelong Business Excellence Awards culminated in a stunning presentation awards ceremony at the The Pier Geelong on the 25 July 2019.
A massive 600 guests attended the sell out event to celebrate the very best of the regions businesses! It was fantastic to see so many locals supporting each other and acknowledging the hard work and dedication behind every successful business in the Geelong and Greater Geelong area.
Sportsmans Lunch
In it’s debut year, Sportsmans Lunch at The Pier 2019 was a legendary afternoon! Spent with some of the greats of our sporting world, we hosted the lovable Richo, controversial Sammy Newman, admired Glenn McGrath, one of the greatest bowlers of all time, TV presenter and sports personality Mark Howard.
Coming off the back of the Ashes series and right before the AFL Grand Final, this was a line up not to be missed! A great networking day for our local businesses and sporting clubs there wasn’t a shortage of laughter, solid banter and old school stories shared.

Toast to The Coast
Held over the Melbourne Cup long weekend, this iconic two-day festival was one of the most anticipated events on the local calendar, showcasing the very best cool-climate wines and gourmet food from around the Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula.
This year’s event offered an exciting format change, with more options to discover Geelong’s world-class wine. There is a new look for Day Two of Toast to the Coast this year, conveniently bringing the region’s finest drops to one iconic Geelong venue – The Pier! Including all of the much-loved elements of the traditional Toast festival minus the travelling, patrons enjoyed more of the region sampling wines from across all three regions, with stunning views of the Geelong waterfront.
Lucky ticket holders enjoyed a taste sensation from 17 local wine producers, with plenty of delicious food offered and all of it complimented by the smooth tones of live jazz bands at The Pier, during both the morning and afternoon session.
