Christina and Marko’s autumn wedding brought a striking contemporary chic to The Pier. “We wanted a venue that was a blank canvas,” Christina says. “The Pier Geelong is modern and elegant. From a styling perspective, we could do what we wanted inside.”
Soon, the room swayed with “soft and elegant but cool and contemporary” styling from Nomad Styling and Moss Industry flowers. “We had lots of black, we love black, and Perspex boxes with flowers on the tables,” Christina says.
For their 160 guests, the couple needed somewhere central with lots of parking. And food. “I’m from a Greek Macedonian family and Marko is Croatian so food was really important,” Christina laughs.
“So we kind of went a bit crazy and The Pier Geelong were really flexible and accommodating during all the planning right through to the end. We had seven courses; canapés, cheese station, antipasto, entrée, main, dessert and a cake by the fabulous Alice Broadway Cake Design.” Add a flow of premium wines and spirits and no one left hungry or thirsty.
The best part about The Pier Geelong? “We had the room where you can watch the sunset. It was just lovely. We were in a beautiful setting with divine food and wine and people we love.” – (written by Kristie Hayden, freelance-writer)
