The inclusion of our four legged friends in wedding ceremonies is a trend that does not look like fading anytime soon. It is also generating unexpected small businesses including ‘Pet Wedding Assistants’, bridal party outfits for dogs and wedding photographers adding pet photography to their repertoire!
We have gathered some tips and ideas of how you can include your treasured fur baby into your wedding ceremony:
- Dogs can take on a range of roles including ring bearer, a ‘Mutt of Honour’ or held instead of a floral bouquet!
- Ask for your dog to come into the ceremony space prior to guests arriving so they can familiarise themselves with the location which eases anxiety – dogs get cold feet too!
- Let your guests know in advance in case they suffer from allergies or have a fear of dogs
- Book a pet sitter who can look after your dog during the ceremony vows and can take them home afterwards
Here at The Pier Geelong, we welcome your treasured fur baby and understand that a pet dog is as much as part of the family and their presence at the wedding day is very meaningful to their owners!
