Getting married is quite possibly the biggest step you’ll ever make in your relationship and your life. It’s a beautiful time, filled with love, happiness… and a tonne of planning. You want your wedding day to be perfect – of course you do – and you know it all starts with the theming of the special day.

But how do you pick the right theme for you? How do you know it’s ‘the one’? Well, we think it’s just like any kind of love. You just know. In our experience, it is usually as simple as ‘love at first sight,’ so the best thing you can do is avoid overthinking it!

Now before you get too ahead of yourself designing those invitations, booking entertainment, and deciding on that delicious wedding cake you sample, consider for a moment… How will this all fit into the overall wedding theming?

We’ve combined our all-time favourite themes with the biggest wedding trends happening right now (particularly those in and around Geelong), to make it easy for you to find your perfect fit.

  1. Modern Love

Perfect for… the romantics.

This theme is great for those couples wishing to add a dreamy, thoughtful touch to their décor. It’s not uncommon for couples to go particularly extravagant on their special day. Think soft pinks, plenty of floral pieces, and elegance.

  • Luxury white ‘throne’ chair with a dimple button back
  • Whiskey or Champaign Bar Trolley, with gold detail
  • Sparkling chandelier with candle or electric lighting

  1. Rustic Amore

Perfect for… the relaxed pair.

Those who prefer a more intimate gathering gravitate towards the rustic vibe. This day is not complete without plenty of timber items, fairy lights, greenery, and you can’t forget those classic wine barrels.

Styling Snapshot:

  • Classic wooden wine barrels, particularly upon entrances
  • Black chalk boards with hand-drawn notes
  • Trailing ivy and tea lights

  1. Classic White

Perfect for… the traditional couple.

Although there may be nothing ‘normal’ about this wedding, the colour scheming itself is very much what you grew up dreaming of. Classic, crisp whites, sophisticated bouquet arrangements, and chic touches are at the centre of this look.

Styling Snapshot:

  • Fresh roses in white or pink
  • White ceiling draping
  • Satin chair wraps, with large bowing for a fancy touch

  1. Boho Beach

Perfect for… the outdoorsy duo.

When you’re looking at a boho beach wedding, you know it – regardless of a beach being in sight. White foldout chairs, tea lights, and a stunning vine-covered driftwood archway make it undeniably beautiful. These weddings tend to focus on simplicity and warm weather.

  • White fold-out chairs
  • Touches of beach shell décor
  • White, brown and teal colour scheme

  1. Vintage

Perfect for… the alternative pair.

This style isn’t particular to any colour scheme, but is instead more about the finer details. Roses are a popular choice here, as is the ‘1940s pin-up’ hair and makeup, and the old-English font. You and your guests will be transported to another, quite extraordinary, time in history.

Styling Snapshot:

  • Suspenders
  • Hints of lace fabric
  • Warm lighting, including candles, tea lights or fairy lights.

And finally, for the weddings with plenty of little ones running about, a play area is a perfect option to keep them entertained. Weddings don’t need to be an adults-only space, especially when there’s such a fun kids-only space just waiting to be experienced. And what better way for the happy couple to have some fun with their planning? There is no end to the fun you can create from a play tent cubby and cinema/gaming space, to kiddy food/lolly stations and DIY tables.
