In 2012, Cystic Fibrosis Geelong was formed by a group of parents with children with CF coming together to support all people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families in the Geelong region and to raise community awareness about CF as an INHERITED condition. There are over 40 children and adults affected by CF in the Greater Geelong region.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-threatening, genetic disorder amongst Australians. A person with CF needs to have inherited a copy of the CF gene from both of their parents. One in 25 people carry the CF gene, 90% are unaware that they are carriers. A baby is born every four days with CF. CF is a recessive genetic disorder affecting the exocrine glands which produce body secretions such as sweat, mucus and enzymes. CF primarily affects the respiratory system (lungs), digestive system (pancreas and sometimes liver) and reproductive system.
There is no Cure and we need one fast.
Here at The Pier Geelong we are delighted to be hosting yet again the Cystic Fibrosis Gala Dinner on the Saturday 25th May 2019. This is always a memorable night with fine dining provided by The Pier Geelong and Cure 4CF Foundation putting together a wonderful evening of fun, entertainment, live and silent auctions, VIP guests and a program full of very passionate speakers.
Every cent raised on the night will go direct to the Cure4CF Foundation to support research for a cure.
This is a formal event, so get dressed up in your most beautiful outfits. Tickets include a 2 course meal and drinks. Would love to attend but don’t have a table of 10? that is totally fine, you can mingle with new friends or we can sit smaller groups together.
